William Francis Jarvis, age 85 of Countryside passed away Friday evening July 1 surrounded by his family.
Bill was born February 7, 1937 to Albert E. and Helen E. (Pokorny) Jarvis. Bill served in the US Army, he then went on to serve as a police officer for the City of Countryside and the Village of Westmont. In 1968, he joined the staff of the Catholic Cemeteries of Chicago where he worked until his retirement in 1999. Bill also served as a Deacon for St. Cletus Parish for many years. Bill was an avid collector of clocks, enjoyed restoring antique furniture, in his younger years, he was a body builder, enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with his grandkids and his pups. Bill was the kindest and most caring person that you would ever meet.
Bill is survived by his son Todd (Stephanie) Jarvis; his grandchildren, Brittany Ann Marie and Kyle James William Jarvis; Nieces, Nancye (Michael) Fiolka, Ruth (Fred) Knipper, Joan (Craig) Krezwina, Kathy (Mike) Smith, Nadine (Don) Schloegel, Cheryl (Keith) Cox & Sue (James) Wilhelm; Nephews, John (Sharon) Gerc, Paul (Linda) Gaynor & David Eggert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother Bessie Jarvis, 5 sisters, Eunice Gaynor, Vivienne Gerc, Lucille Eggert, Dorothy Spinka, Nancye Ruzicka; 4 brothers in law, Edward Gaynor, Harry Gerc, Melvin Eggert, Milton Spinka; and his niece Mary Lou Hunter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 16, 2022 at St. Cletus Catholic Church, 600 W. 55th Street, La Grange. Rev. Elmer Romero will celebrate the Mass. Private Inurnment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Hinsdale Humane Society or Small Paws Rescue would be appreciated.
