Una Mae Herzog of Clarendon Hills (formerly of Peoria, IL) passed away on December 28, 2024, at the age of 95.
Una was born on June 5, 1929, in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of Alfred and Una (Baxter) Booth. She graduated from Woodruff High School in Peoria, IL in 1947.
She married Edward E. Herzog on March 12, 1949, in Peoria, IL; they were married for 63 years prior to his passing on November 27, 2012, in Peoria, IL.
Together they lived in Peoria for 15 years raising their family prior to moving to the Chicago area for the next 20 years. They then retired in 1986 to a lake home in Oak Run near Galesburg, IL where she and her family enjoyed many 4th of July celebrations throughout the years. She spent the last 10 years of her life living in Clarendon Hills, IL near her family.
Una worked many secretarial and bookkeeping jobs over the years, but her passion and gift was using her hands to create things. She loved to sew, knit, build, craft and could fix anything. She loved reading and music and always enjoyed singing, especially with The Belles of Harmony group in Peoria. She was kind and gentle and always had a way of surprising people with her subtle sense of humor. She never raised her voice or said an unkind word to anyone. Every person who met her was amazed by her sweet nature.
Una loved being with and taking care of her family more than anything. She had a way of always putting everyone else first before herself. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be so greatly missed.
Una is survived by her three children, Susan, Mark, and Lori; daughter-in-law Kim (Rosselle); two brothers, Eddie, and Montie (Jackie) Booth; nine grandchildren, Greg, Adam, Lindsey (Larry), Christopher, Sydney, Gabrielle, Gillian, Isabelle, and Dylan; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will take place at Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria, IL on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Joey Watt will officiate.
