Tom Trevithick Obituary

Tom Trevithick, 88, of LaGrange Park, IL, and long-time resident of Chili / Peru, Indiana died peacefully on September 24, 2021. Tom was born and raised in Dearborn, MI to the late Melvin and Olive Jean Trevithick.  After serving in the Korean War, Tom graduated from Lawrence Technical Institute in Detroit, MI with a degree in Industrial Management.  After graduation, Tom met and married Barbara (nee Austin).  They were married for 43 years.  He took a role at Square D, moving from Dearborn to Lexington, KY, and finally landing in Peru. Tom served as the Plant Manager for Square D until 1976.  The life of a local store owner and entrepreneur attracted Tom when he purchased the local McKinney’s TV and Appliance store.  After 20+ years Tom and Barbara left McKinney’s moving on to owning and managing Universal Fan, a local industrial fan cover manufacturer until retirement. Tom served as a member of the Peru Kiwanis and on the Board of the Peru YMCA.  He was a founding member of the Miller Community Pool. Tom was an avid and passionate golfer and could be frequently found on the local courses.  He also enjoyed fishing and looked forward to his annual trip to Red Lake in Canada. Tom was an adventurous traveler, having visited 76 different countries over his lifetime.  Tom was the beloved husband of the late Barbara; loving father of Christy (Randy) Weimer of Chicago and Stephen (Gayle) of Peru; fond grandfather of  Marc (Maggie), Ellyn, Matthew Weimer, Christopher, Austin, and Jensen Trevithick, and step-grandfather of Jennings and Jerral Deford; great-grandfather of Thomas; cherished brother of Mary Ann Roberts of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas and the late Barry. He is survived by many extended family members. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 1 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St. Peru, IN 46970.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Oct 2, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Eddy Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Chili Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org. Or Peru High School attn:  Fine Arts Department.
