Thomas Daly

Thomas was born in Ayrshire, Scotland on September 24, 1933. His parents, Joseph and  Gladys (Fellows) Daly raised him in a well-grounded home and encouraged a love for learning. He had a pleasant childhood growing up with his siblings, Andrew, Peter, John  and Ruth. After graduating from the University of Glasgow, he met and fell in love with  Helen Stuart McPhersen (2017). They moved to Peterborough, Ontario married & started their family; Susan (Harold) Daly (2013), Karen (Peter) Anderson (2016), Michael  Daly (1985) and Paul (Patty) Daly. In 1968 they came to the U.S and settled in Clarendon  Hills, IL. where he stayed for the remainer of his years. He received his master’s at the  University of Chicago and retired from a career with Argonne National Laboratories.  He was a supportive husband, steadfast father and loving grandfather to his  grandchildren; Ford (Rebecca) Anderson, Stuart Anderson, Taylor Anderson,  Olivia Daly, Maggee Daly, Hogan Daly.  

His love for learning never stopped, he was always amazed to see how far technology  had come. We had so many great memories and conversations with him. His kids  would tell you, he never missed an opportunity to support them, through good times  and bad. His grandkids would tell you he showed much interest in their education & activities and LOVED them beyond words. He was a generous, humble, patient, deep thinking, gentle, intelligent & honorable man. Although Tom’s life was marked with both success and sadness, he always chose to be kind & give his family all the love he had.
