Thaddeus J. Lis

Thaddeus J. Lis, passed away on July 18, 2021, surrounded by his family.  Ted was born on July 21, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Boleslaw and the late Stephanie Lis. He graduated from Harrison High School in Chicago and joined the Air Force in 1943.  He served in WWII as a pilot receiving the American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal for his service.  In 1958, he married Nancy (nee Senase) and they raised four children. Ted was a proud father and a very proud grandfather of 7. A man of faith, family, and charity, Ted's family joined St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in 1966, where he served as an usher.  His love of cars led him to become the owner of River Grove Auto for 59 years. Gardening and real estate development were a passion, but if you needed to have something fixed, he could do it.  His family dubbed him the "World's Best Handyman." He had a strong work ethic and believed in working hard, 7 days a week, which continued up until age 97. Ted is the beloved husband of Nancy (nee Senase) for 63 years and the loving father of Larry, Diane (Hank), Ted (Cheryl), and Robert (Eva Marie).  Fond grandfather to Elizabeth, Michael, Ryan, Matthew, Alexa, Kaylee, and Mary Rose.  A dear brother to Julian, and the late Joseph, the late Casey, and the late Florence.  A cherished uncle to eleven. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 1 from 2-8 PM at Adolf Funeral Home,  7000 S. Madison St. Willowbrook, IL 60527.  Family and friends will meet on Monday, August 2, at 10:30 AM at Adolf Funeral Home to process to St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 306 W. 4th Street, Hinsdale, IL. for an 11:30 AM funeral mass. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, IL.
