Stephen J. (Steve) Bloom, of Clarendon Hills, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025.
Born on February 27, 1936, to Max and Carolyn Bloom, Steve lived a full and vibrant life filled with love, family, and accomplishment.
In 1957, Steve married the love of his life, Nancy, and together they built a beautiful life and family. They raised four children: Anne Bloom Mitchell (deceased 2014), Bradley (Deanna), Thomas (Marilyn), and Carolyn Bloom. Steve was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren - Ryan Mitchell, Adam Bloom, Sarah Bloom, Emma Bloom Gidley, Sam Bloom, August Bloom, Isabella Bloom, Mallory Hakes, Adeline Hakes, and Hannah Hakes - and a great-grandfather to nine
.
Steve graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1954 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan in 1958. He began his professional career at the family business, S. Bloom Inc., where he worked for 20 years.
After the company was acquired by Core-Mark Distributors in 1978, Steve continued there as Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. In 1979, he joined Northwestern Drug, a leading pharmaceutical distributor, and later concluded his career at Philip Morris USA as Senior Vice President of Trade Development. He retired in 2006 at the age of 70.
Outside of work, Steve enjoyed playing racquetball and tennis. While living in Clarendon Hills since 1970, Steve and Nancy enjoyed many years of golf at Ruth Lake Country Club in Hinsdale and Butler National Golf Club in Oak Brook. In retirement, they made their winter home in Indian Wells, California, where they continued to play golf and spend time with cherished friends.
Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather - and for his infectious laugh and wicked sense of humor. May he rest in peace, forever loved and remembered.
