Scott Douglas Smith of Hinsdale and Yorkville passed away on April 22, 2025, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was 53 years old.
Scott’s love for animals and his deep devotion to keeping pets safe led to a lifelong business in underground pet fencing. He and his loyal pal, Millie, trained and kept safe hundreds and hundreds of dogs. His customers loved him for it and were very loyal.
Scott was a devoted son of Robert Smith, his mother, Susan Swan, and stepdad Frank Swan, brother of Stacy (Chris) Carlstead and uncle to Kit, Annie and Audrey. He loved holidays and gatherings with family and hearing all the kids’ antics and stories.
Golf was Scott’s game. After a week of work, you could find him on one of his many favorite courses. His buddy, Jason, was his favorite golf partner and they played anywhere and everywhere they could. Scott was a true friend and a gentleman to whomever he came into contact with and will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 10:30am at Union Church, 137 S. Garfield Street, Hinsdale, Il 60521. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Hinsdale Humane Society, 21 Salt Creek Lane, Hinsdale, Il 60521.
