Saurav Kumar Joshi

Saurav Kumar Joshi, age 19, of Oak Brook, unexpectedly passed away in his sleep on April 8th, 2023.

His family’s loving name for him was “Dilu,” which means, “close to my heart.”  Words cannot fully describe his brief time on Earth, but he left a great impact on all those he encountered.

From a very young age, he impressed those around him with his wide spectrum of capabilities, including showing mental prowess in the scientific and engineering processes to exhibiting artistic expressions.  Saurav was a graduate of Hinsdale Central High School Class of 2020-21.

Saurav always said that he wanted to make an impact on the world for the greater good. His will to accomplish goals he set within his sights was unparalleled.  His most noble of aspirations was the desire to relieve the pain of others’ suffering and helping those less fortunate.  Prior to his untimely death, he had most recently set his focus on helping to fund efforts to build an orphanage and Hindu temple in a rural area of India.    

Saurav’s myriad of talents spanned realms of academic mastery, artistic ability, and athletic skill.  Most of all, he brought joy and laughter to everyone he encountered with his clever quips and contagious smile and giggle.

He indeed manifested his nickname, “Dilu” with his ability to love greatly and always treat others with kindness and respect.  He will be sorely missed but always remembered by his family and friends. Saurav is survived by his parents, Prashant and Subhasree, his younger brothers and sister, Sohan, Sachin, and Sabina, his maternal grandparents, Arun and Manjulata Misra, his uncle and aunts, Suresh and Rashmi Acharya, Jogesh and Smriti Panda, Subhendu and Ekta Misra, Ryan and Sasmita Cramer, and his cousins, Rajesh, Suneeta, Suman, Poonam, Rohan, Ariana and Saanvi.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 11 from 2pm to the time of Puja service at 3pm at Damar Kaminski Funeral Home, 7861 S. 88th Avenue Justice, IL.
