Robert Vernon Hickey, born February 11, 1938, passed away on December 18, 2019. Beloved son of the late James and Violet (nee Buhle) Hickey. Loving father of Susan (John) Mickey and Bradley Hickey. Wonderful brother of Marilynn (Edward) Campbell and the late James Hickey. He is also survived by two nieces, one nephew, and ten grand nieces and nephews. Robert was a graduate of Earle Elementary and Lindblom High School in Chicago. A graduate of the University of Illinois in Champaign, Bob was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, and was the starting quarterback for the University of Illinois football team from 57-59 where he had the honor of being named an “I” Man. He called home - Chicago, San Antonio, Texas and Barnes, Wisconsin. Bob had many friends wherever he lived and wherever he traveled. He always had a story and his laugh was heartfelt and contagious. A kind, happy guy. He will be missed as “He was one of a kind.” Services have been held. Memorials may be made to BethanyKids USA, P.O. Box 1297, Arlington VA. 24212, or bethanykids.org.
