Our beloved Pati, Rajalakshmi Iyer, lost her short but ferocious battle with cancer yesterday. Our family is devastated but we know that she lived an incredibly happy and full life and that she is in a more comfortable place and happily reunited with tata.
Pati was the strongest, bravest and most selfless person that any of us have ever known. Her hilarious and loving obsession with making all of the children “puffy” will be so dearly missed. She has raised, massaged, scolded and spoiled three generations and is mourned by her two children, son-in-law and daughter-in-law, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. And all three generations were constantly vying for her affections and begging her to come and stay with them for “just a little bit longer.” Pati spent half her time in Gurgaon with Narayan, Nandini, Naisha and Naail where she ran the house and demanded straight A’s. She spent the other half of her time in the US with Radha, Ganesh, Sneha, Vaibhav, Vrajesh, Aria and now Niam. Her Cleveland and Chicago homes were also fully under her reign, and we all found ourselves constantly asking Pati for her opinion or wisdom as we lived our lives with her.
Her capacity to love and constantly push all of us to be the best versions of ourselves was unparalleled. Pati loathed stagnation and was the change agent of our family. She was the family visionary who inspired each one of us to go for the promotion, get better grades, obtain another degree and constantly strive for excellence.
Everyone who remembers her is encouraged to push themselves to run the extra mile, take the next step, and pursue their dreams! Her funeral will be held at noon on 7/21 at
