It is with profound grief and sorrow we report the passing of Prem Vass Ticku (Choti/Rani) on Sunday, December 26th, 2021 after a brief illness.
Born the daughter of late Leelavati and late Dina Nath Vass of Rainawari Srinagar Kashmir India, she grew up with one sister and two brothers. She earned a Masters Degree of Economics and was a teacher before marriage.
The family relocated to Illinois in the late 1960s. The Midwest was her home in the United States. She raised four sons : Arun, Ravinder, Dileep and Jonathan, two engineers and two doctors now with families of their own.
After her husband Jawahar retired from Fermilab, she spent her last decade at their new residence on the Chicago lakefront, with expansive views of Lake Michigan and across the street from her eldest son Arun. She was very outgoing, frequently hosting family and relatives. She was in constant touch with relatives all over the world, despite being mostly at home in recent years. Seeing her children and grandchildren frequently, if not daily, was the norm.
She left behind her husband, four sons and their wives and 13 grandchildren. She left them with her curiosity, her delight in sharing life and laughing, her view that the world around her was amazing, and her disappointment that time flies. She was amazing.
