Peter Cook

Peter D. Cook of Downers Grove, and former resident of Willowbrook and longtime of Hinsdale, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2021.

Peter was born April 4, 1935, in Chicago, IL to the late Junius Ford Jr. and Barbara (nee Jacobus) Cook.  He grew up in Hinsdale and graduated from Hinsdale High School in 1953. Following graduation, Peter attended the University of Colorado, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, discovered the joy of skiing, and met Beverly Ann Pollard of Topeka, KS, who would become his bride in 1958.  

Surviving are their children Courtenay Cook of Winfield and Darcy Cook of Chicago, and granddaughter Hannah Ovcharchyn.  Also, surviving is his sister Catherine Powell of California. He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly (nee Pollard), and brother Terry Cook.

Peter's storied career included time spent at LaSalle National Bank, the National Association of Realtors, and American Flyers, just to name a few.

His pastimes included bridge with friends, reading books, playing Spider Solitaire, and watching sports and scary movies.  He loved his church and was a very active member. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and celebrating holiday traditions.

Peter will be interred with his wife Beverly at Grace Episcopal Church in Hinsdale, IL.  A private memorial will be held there on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at 10:00 am.  **For those who wish to participate, the service will be live-streamed via the Grace Church website, http://www.gracehinsdale.org/ Memorials may be made to Bravehearts 7319 Maxon Rd Harvard IL 60033.
