Nancy Ging Obituary

Nancy Buck Ging, a longtime resident of Hinsdale, passed away peacefully in her home on February 22, 2022, with a smile on her face. A diagnosis of myelofibrosis in 2008 did not diminish her fierce commitment to healing. As in the previous four decades, Nancy could be seen driving to her office in downtown Hinsdale with her HEAL license plate. As a holistic psychotherapist, she was dedicated to helping others in their healing process, which she saw as a journey to wholeness. Being very progressive in her approaches, she was open to blending and using an array of healing modalities. She embraced guided imagery, astrology, numerology, energy medicine and shamanism, among other unconventional interests. For many years, Nancy was a regular presence at the Union Church of Hinsdale while espousing all religions. Her spiritual depth, beliefs, and understanding were profound. Nancy was a writer who self-published three books. She was a public speaker and poet. She could make clothes and hang wallpaper. She dressed in bold, colorful outfits and would strike up conversations with anyone willing to answer her questions. Her inquisitive nature and sincere interest in understanding the human psyche provided her with endless connections. “Are you registered to vote?” was one of her go-to introductions. She had a unique way with words and simply loved to communicate. She enjoyed traveling the world, often seeking Healers in remote parts of the planet. She had an affinity for Native American art. In addition to her numerous antiques, Nancy had a collection of Heart & Hand artwork, which was also the symbol on her business card. Her creativity, openness, and intuition all heavily contributed to the loving and healing impact she bestowed on countless clients and friends. She was a true connector, enigmatic to the core. Nancy was born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1942 to her parents Joseph V. Buck and Edna Stewart. She grew up in Grosse Pointe, MI and Darien, CT. She graduated in 1964 from Michigan State University and continued her studies at Simmons School of Social Work. She later earned a Master of Social Work degree from George Williams College. She had a private practice in Hinsdale from 1980-2020. Nancy is preceded in death by her sister Sally Buck Lanzi. She is survived by her two children Tracey Ging Trendler and Kevin Ging, her two grandchildren Jade Munsinger and Riley Trendler, and her nephew and niece Rick Lanzi and Beth Lanzi. A memorial service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held on June 1, 2022, at 6 p.m. at the Union Church of Hinsdale, 137 S. Garfield Ave., Hinsdale, IL 60521.
