Max Bassler Obituary

Max Bassler, of Willowbrook, Illinois, age 71, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023. Max was a dedicated father, husband and friend, leaving a smile wherever he went. The second child of four boys, Max was born in Münster, Germanyto Max and Marta Bassler. After emigrating to America (Gary, Indiana) at age 3, Max started school becoming fluent in English and French. Max received a full-ride wrestling scholarship to attend Franklin College in Indiana. There he received his bachelor’s in economics and psychology. Upon graduation, Maxentered the workforce and took up karate, eventually becoming a third degree Black Belt holder in the Art of Shotokan Karate. In the mid-1970’s, Max began his career as a software salesman, starting at Burroughs, eventually landing at Filenet to become the top salesman in North America in 2001. 

At Burroughs, Max met Karen, married and had four children – three daughters and a son. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers John and Ron. He is survived by his wife Karen, his four children, Rachel (Phil) Linduska, Elizabeth Bassler, Stefanie (Nick) Goldsmith, Max Robert Bassler; and his three grandchildren Charlie Linduska, MacKenzie Linduska, and Brooks Goldsmith. Additionally, he is survived by his brother Klaus (Bonita) Bassler, cousins, nieces and nephews.
