Maureen Donatelli

Maureen Donatelli (nee Fogarty) August 17,1934-July 2,2025. Daughter of the late Edward and Mary Fogarty. Beloved wife of the late Robert J Donatelli, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Raised on the South Side of Chicago, Maureen was born the oldest of 5 sisters. Maureen attended St. Sabina, Longwood Academy and Mundelein College, where she reconnected with her neighborhood friend, Bob. Their romance began while they commuted from the South Side to the North Side of Chicago for college and quickly blossomed into a forever love. Maureen and Bob married on a snowy day February 11, 1956. They had 9 children. They began their married years on the South Side of Chicago and moved their family to Hinsdale in 1969, where they lived for 30 years and raised all of their children. Maureen and Bob lived in Downers Grove during their empty nest years. Maureen loved to gather with her friends and family. When one of her children was coming by for a visit she would invite the others, as all were always welcome. Her grandchildren will say their visits with Grandma were not just about her amazing story telling, but also about her famous pound cake with chocolate sauce! Her cooking was not only enjoyed by her family and friends, but she also cooked meals monthly for Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS). Maureen’s hobbies were the people in her life. She loved to visit with friends and family both in person and by phone. She had an amazing gift of finding 2 degrees of separation with most people she met. Many of those she met were through her St. Isaac Jogues community, where she was a Eucharist Minister, Religious Ed teacher and Pre-Cana counselor. As an educator, she taught elementary school and continued as a substitute teacher while raising her children. Maureen then became a Hinsdale Realtor and helped many families find the home of their dreams. Maureen will be remembered by all for her amazing strength, grace and resilience. She moved to Sunrise when she lost her beloved Bob and rallied in her new community making wonderful new friendships and was known by all as “the lady with nine children”. She will be missed by her Sunrise Community. Maureen is survived by her sisters Sheila Goss and Mary Beth Annes, her sister in law, Lucianne Donatelli, adoring children, Mary Beth Donatelli, Michael (Jan) Donatelli, Mark (Nancy) Donatelli, Meg (the late Dr Randall) Stein, Anne (Joel) Galvan, Celine (Dr Clifford) Greenbaum, John (Patty) Donatelli, Jeni (Dr. Joseph) Ihm; cherished Grandmother of James (Okemia), Michael, Matthew (Colleen), Brian (Manisara), Patrick, Clay, Tyler (Carson), Mark Jr.(Geena), Eric, Connor, Joel Jr. (Jackie), Korina (Maurice), Lindsey (Angel), Stetson, Maeve, Hannah, Madeline (Ryan), Bennett, Jacob (Sara), Colette, Robert (Brianna), Charlotte (Noel), Lilly (Tim), Sophia, Charles; Great Grandmother to James Jr., Isreal, Maurice Jr., Dominic, Allanah, Aria, Abigail, Demi, Kameron, Elena, John, Nicholas,Gaetano, as well as, numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Preceded in death by her son, Matthew and her sisters Nancy O’Shea and Susan Voves. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 3pm to 8pm at Adolf and Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S. Madison St. Willowbrook, IL 60527. A visitation will be held Wednesday, at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 9, from 9am until time of funeral mass at 10am at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 4th and Clay Streets, Hinsdale IL. Interment at Holy Sepulchre, Alsip, IL. In lieu of flowers, her family recommends memorials in Maureen’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital @ stjude.org.
