Mary Lou Hayes

Mrs Mary Lou Hayes, 96, passed away peacefully, in her much-loved home, in her lifelong city of Chicago on Sunday, August 17, 2025. Mary Lou was an Executive in the Commercial Insurance industry as well as having a very successful career as a broker in the Chicago Real Estate market in her later years. Mary Lou was a lover of all things Chicago, particularly the Bears, an expert of all things ‘Magnificent Mile’, an avid walker of her Streeterville neighborhood and Navy Pier trails as well as a committed parishioner of Old St. Patricks Church. Mary Lou was a devoted friend to many, known for her compassion, sense of humor, great laughter and class. She was all about ‘family’, treasured by her three sisters, her sister-in-law and two brothers -in- law, and the numerous nieces and nephews with whom she had warm and loving relationships all through her extremely busy life. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Howard and her grandson Timothy Cunningham, and is survived by her daughter Susie Cavoto, son Michael (Nancy), daughter Laurie Walsh (Jay), daughter Julie Levey (Ken), daughter Carrie Kenna (Regis) and son Kevin (Denise). Her six children have blessed her with 19 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, September 5th at Old St. Patricks Church (700 W Adams), with visitation starting at 9:00 am and service commencing at 10:00 am. Parking is available at 625 W Adams.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Misericordia, St Jude Children's Research Hospital or Catholic Charities.
