Kenneth E. Boston, a devoted father and grandfather, legendary athlete, proud veteran, and respected businessman, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, at age 81. A lifelong Hinsdale, Illinois resident, Kenneth’s life was marked by meaningful achievements and profound impact on his family and community.
Born August 7, 1944, in Hinsdale, Illinois, Kenneth graduated from Hinsdale High School in 1962, where his unique talent as a multi-sport athlete earned him a future Hall of Fame induction. Recruited by the University of Missouri for baseball and football, he secured First Team All-Big Eight and All-American honors, All-Century Team recognition, and played a key role in the Missouri Tigers’ victory in the 1966 Sugar Bowl, later inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame with the team in 2016. He continued his athletic dedication as a member of the Chicago Lions Rugby Club, playing internationally. Kenneth’s ultimate passions were his sons, his health, and his sports, which defined his fulfilling life.
Kenneth served with distinction as a U.S. Army Special Forces Green Beret. As an executive with Inland Steel, his leadership took him to Detroit, Kansas City, and Chicago, creating lasting memories and friendships. An active member of Oak Brook Church, he found strength in faith and community.
He is survived by sons Drew and Kyle Boston, as well as cherished grandchildren Isabella, Lucia, and Winnie.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Gibsons Oak Brook on September 27, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Hinsdale Central Foundation Hall of Fame.
Kenneth’s legacy of excellence and perseverance lives on through his two sons.
