Karen Marie Kindt of Clarendon Hills, formerly of Hinsdale was born on June 14, 1960, to Noel and Patricia in South Bend, Indiana and passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2019, in Hinsdale, Illinois.
Karen’s vibrant and colorful personality elicited love from many from all walks of life. She strove to make everyone feel welcomed and admired through her natural friendliness, genuinely engaging in conversation with anyone she met. Her high energy and indomitable personality were apparent in her passion for her children, the outdoors, biking, walking, cross-country skiing, and swimming. A lover of rescue animals, Karen devoted herself to helping all furry creatures.
Karen grew up in Deerfield, Illinois and graduated from Deerfield High School. She earned a Business/Communications degree from Marquette University and jumped into the business world, achieving significant success early in her career working for Xerox and Comdisco. Karen ended her career with that same enthusiasm at RGP. Her commitment to a strong work ethic stemmed from her father’s business success. It was his example that propelled Karen to professional and personal excellence.
After a serious biking injury in September of 2018 that challenged her ability to be mobile again, Karen used her characteristic drive in her goal to regain the full function of her right leg. She was known and admired in her neighborhood, as she walked daily on her crutches, determined to do all she could to heal. It was not uncommon for her to make new friends on those walks, some of them in cars that stopped to encourage her to press on.
Karen selflessly put others first, most importantly her kids. She will be remembered and missed by all who knew her. She is survived by children Olivia and Reid Carter, her mother and her sister Katherine Kindt. Her father and her sister Kimberly predeceased her.
Karen’s life will be celebrated on Friday, January 3, 2020, from 2-6 pm at Katherine Legge Memorial Lodge, 5901 S. County Line Rd., Hinsdale, IL 60521 with a memorial service held at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Karen’s name to Hinsdale Humane Society (https://www.hinsdalehumanesociety.org/donate).
