Julianne Marie Pliner (née Burke), age 81, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, in Hinsdale, Illinois, at The Pearl of Hinsdale hospice facility after several years of declining health.
Born on August 25, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, Julianne-known affectionately as Julie-was the daughter of Leora Lucille Burke (née Martin) and Hale James Burke. She grew up in the Chicago area where she graduated from Bloom Township High School, Chicago Heights, Illinois. Julie then began a career in Nursing attending St. Bernard School of Nursing, in Chicago, Illinois, where she also earned her bachelor's degree and became a Registered Nurse.
Julie dedicated much of her professional life to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Illinois. There, she served as a dialysis nurse and as Assistant Director of the hospital's Alcohol Treatment Center.
Julie and her late husband Harvey lived in Crete, Illinois for many years before Harvey's death. Some years after, Julie moved to assisted living at Waterford Estates, Hazel Crest, Illinois where she developed many lasting friendships.
Julie is lovingly remembered by her children: Arthur Dominick "Nick" DeLuca (Lena) and Adrianna DeLuca; her grandchildren: Autumn DeLuca, John Maneno, Giana Maneno and Jade DeLuca. She is also survived by her brothers Bruce Burke (Melissa) and David Burke, sister Laura Shingle (née Burke), and cousin Ellen Cincotta (née Repel). Julie is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Julie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harvey Pliner; her mother Leora Lucille Burke (née Martin); her father Hale James Burke, her brother James Burke; brother-in-law David Shingle, aunt Anita Maxine Ludington, and cousin Mary Anita Repel (née Ludington), and former husband Arnold DeLuca.
May Julianne's memory be a source of comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Memorial Mass will be held on August 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Veronica Parish (at Infant Jesus of Prague Church) 1120 Douglas Avenue Flossmoor, IL
