John “Jack” W. Cordell, 69, of LaGrange Park, Illinois, passed away on December 9, 2025, surrounded by family after a battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Jack was born on September 13, 1956, in Evanston, Illinois. He attended Loyola Academy and went on to the University of Dayton, graduating in 1978. He worked as an accountant until his retirement. Known for his handyman skills, he followed his passion and also owned a hardware store in Oak Park for several years. Jack was an active member of Saint Barbara Catholic Church in Brookfield. He was an avid Chicago sports fan, cheering on the White Sox, Blackhawks, and Bears, and he loved to grill.
Jack is survived by his children, Sarah, Jacqueline, and Madeline Cordell; his siblings, Mary Kay (Chris) Irmiter, Ellen Cordell, Larry (Wenom) Cordell, and Barbara (Mark) Van Der Bosch; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jack in death are his parents, Leroy and Margaret Cordell; his sister, Peggy (Tony) Phillips; and his late wife, Kathy Cordell.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025 from 9:00am until time of Funeral Mass 10:00am at Saint Francis Xavier Church, 524 9th St., Wilmette, IL.
