John Dimoff

On April 30, 2025 we lost the love and light of our lives— our husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. John Dimoff left his mark on the world and on everyone’s hearts who knew him.

He was born on October 2, 1942 in Chicago, IL to Spase and Mary Dimoff. The youngest of four siblings (Robert, William and Dorothy), John was charismatic, funny and driven. He married his soulmate, Janet Dimoff, on April 17, 1971 and they spent the next 54 wonderful years together with their three loving daughters: Jennifer Halm, Julia Arquette and Jillian Dimoff; and their beautiful grandchildren: Emily Halm, Sarah Halm, Augustus Dimoff and Evangeline Dimoff.

John set the standard for what it means to be the ideal husband, father and friend. He was a dedicated provider with an incredible work ethic so his family could continue to live in the lifestyle they had grown accustomed to. He taught us much about the power of love and loyalty, compassion and generosity for those he cared for, and a contagious sense of humor. He was an exceptional man.

He was a chauffeur for his daughter every day for a year of law school, an entrepreneur and an inventor, building several lucrative businesses over the years.  But his real gift was making everyone around him feel loved and appreciated.

No words will ever describe the feeling of loss we share and although we know in our hearts he is in a better place, the world has lost a genuine human being that made life better for everyone around him.

Our love for you goes on and on. Thank you for always being there for us through it all. There will never be another like you. Until we meet again…

A visitation will be held on Monday May 5, 2025 from 10am until time of Funeral Service 12pm at Zion Lutheran Church, 204 S Grant St, Hinsdale, IL with burial at Fairmount Willow Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Zion Lutheran Church.
