Joan R. Hoatson of Burr Ridge passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021, at Hinsdale Hospital. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 4, 1924, to the late Valdimar J. and Madelyn K. Roehler. Beloved wife of the late James R. Hoatson, Jr. Loving mother of Katherine H. (Dan) Gullaksen, Cornelia H. (Frank) Mihelich, and the late Madelyn H. Crowe. Fond grandmother of Dana K. Gullaksen, Erin G. (Greg) Coomer, John J. (Tiffany) Gullaksen, Ramsey W. (Megan) Crowe, Elliott R. Crowe, Caitlin C. (Darrin) Velasquez, and Sophia C. (Jarred) Snider. Caring great-grandmother of Leif A. Coomer, Loren R. Coomer, Samuel E. Crowe, and Jasper Snider. Cherished sister of Lynne Petersen. In 1942, she married James R. Hoatson, Jr. in Lexington, Missouri. Joan enjoyed gardening, traveling, and volunteering for various organizations. She was a member of the Fortnightly Club in Chicago and a past member of the Clarendon Hills Chapter of the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago. She was a past board member of the Chicago Symphony, a University of Chicago Alumni and spent many years volunteering at Hinsdale Hospital. Funeral service and interment are private.
