Joan Deiss, a long-standing Oak Brook resident, passed away peacefully on December 12 at the age of 91. Born and raised in Chicago, Joan was a graduate of the Cook County School of Nursing where she met her late husband, Dr. Robert L. Deiss.
Joan was the beloved heart and soul of her family. Whether it be holiday gatherings, extensive foreign travel, or cultural events, Joan adored sharing these special moments with her children and grandchildren.
In Joan's eyes, promoting fine and performing arts programs in public schools was essential. Joan’s voice was key in developing a music program and the Picture Lady Program at Butler School in Oak Brook. She also organized and chaperoned the Butler students to attend the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Youth Concerts in Chicago.
Joan enjoyed a distinguished 32-year real estate career with Coldwell Banker Realty in Oak Brook, where she was highly respected by both her colleagues and her many clients. Loving and supportive mother, grandmother, wife, dear friend, and trusted colleague best describes Joan.
Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Robert Deiss, and is survived by four daughters: Karen Baker, Oak Brook, IL; Mary Kay Deiss, Chestnut Hill, MA; Nancy Keller, Geneva, Switzerland; Susan Deiss of Chicago, IL, as well as six grandchildren.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Residential Home Health and Hospice team and the caregivers who supported Joan in her final months.
A memorial and celebration of Joan’s life will be held on Friday February 9, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S Madison St, Willowbrook. Private inurnment at Bronswood Cemetery, Oak Brook.
