Jean, or Tina as she was affectionately known to family members and dear friends, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 under hospice care at Edward-Elmhurst Hospital on May 3, 2023. A longtime resident of Hinsdale, Illinois, she was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 19, 1942, and graduated from Hinsdale Central High School, Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri and completed programs at Ray Vogue School of Design and Moser Secretarial School in Chicago, followed by a 26-year career with BMO-Harris in Chicago.
Jean was an avid reader all her life and was especially devoted to the pets she cared for over the years. Genealogy was a favorite pastime, and Tina established and maintained many lasting friendships both at home and abroad. Her expertise in needlepointing resulted in many treasured keepsakes for family members and friends. She excelled, too, at always remembering everyone’s birthdays, anniversaries and special holidays with cards. Jean will be missed by all who knew her.
Jean is survived by her brothers William H. (Sharon) Griffiths of Newcastle WA and Robert P. (Janet) Griffiths of Chesterton IN, many nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents G. Findley and Marion W. Griffiths, sister Judith Griffiths Mattison and niece Jennifer Mattison Seay.
A visitation will be held on July 20, 2023 from 10:30am until time of memorial service at 11:00 AM at Adolf Funeral Home, 7000 S Madison St, Willowbrook, IL 60527. Donations in Jean’s honor may be made to:
