Jean Bristow

Jean Bethig Bristow passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her sons, daughter and brother on October 18, 2023. Jean was born June 1, 1931 in Roseland (Chicago), IL to Louis and Mabel (nee Eeningenburg) Bethig. She was raised in a loving home with her siblings: Virginia (Ginny Bova), Marilyn (Nehring) and Merritt Bethig.

Jean was the loving and beloved wife of William (Bill) Taylor Bristow Jr. (deceased) for 63 years and “for always”. She was the mother of five sons and one daughter: William Taylor Bristow III (deceased), Brent (Anita), Bryan (Heather), Joy (Mark Larson), Reid (Bonnie), and Troy (Jennifer).  She has 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  Jean’s family was her pride and joy. 

She also was the loving cousin and aunt to many throughout the Chicago-land area, across the nation, Canada and Northern Ireland. Her own term “family togetherness” was her favorite way to spend her time.

Jean was a woman of quiet faith in her Lord Jesus Christ and she lived her life reflecting His love for people.  Her genuine interest for people created dear friendships at home (Hinsdale, Oak Brook, Wheaton) and across the world. She welcomed everyone into her home and into her life.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate Jean’s life on Saturday October 28, 2023 at Wyndemere, 200 Wyndemere Circle, Wheaton IL 60187 at 1:00 pm.
