It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of our beloved Kamy, the head of our family, on May 11, 2025. He left this world to join Christ in Heaven.
He leaves a great legacy behind, and his shoes will be hard to fill. Kamy was a periodontist and built his dental practice, Fox River Periodontics, from the ground up in 1992. Since that time, his practice grew and flourished and the pride he took in his work was evidence of his devotion to his art. His immense talent, care for his patients and staff, and impeccable work made him a singular doctor of dentistry. He was a healer, with blessed and gifted hands.
Kamy was born in Tehran on November 28th, 1960. From an early age, he had a love of soccer, and it was rare to find a photo of him without his beloved soccer ball under foot. There were many fond memories of soccer games in Iran when tea flasks were filled and kabob sandwiches made for the all-day affair. Not many can say they watched Pelé play, and Kamy did. When we moved to the States, the tradition continued with watching of countless soccer games on TV with his father and hearing the loud cheers of “GO-O-OAL” from the family room when their team had scored.
From early middle school, Kamy attended boarding school in London, which made him independent and adventurous. It was a treasured time for him, especially his discovery of bread pudding and the tailored suits of Englishmen, which he made his own, topped by his signature fedora.
Kamy was loved by all, and his friends were many. On Monday nights, you would find him in his fragrant cigar room playing pinocle with his buddies, and never without a cigar in hand (and smoke wafting through the air). When you walked into that room, you thought you were on the set of an old-time movie like the Godfather, which was his favorite film.
Classical music and history were also great loves of his. He could educate you on subjects as wide ranging as Beethoven and Lincoln, Bach and the World Wars. When he put on a favorite piece of music, you could see him taking in the symphony with eyes closed, while his hands moved, as if conducting an orchestra. His love of music and history were contagious, and you could sit there for hours listening to his great knowledge pour forth.
Kamy met his beloved wife, Mina, on July 8, 2015, on a blind date in a small bistro in Wheaton, IL. It was the handsome, well-dressed man at the corner table that stole Mina’s heart and it was love at first sight (and wine bottle), and they were married on March 24, 2018. They built a beautiful life together filled with adventurous travel to places like Egypt, Aruba, Switzerland for Valentine’s Day, a Kentucky bourbon tour, the wineries of northern California, fishing trips to Athabasca, and many other spots around the world.
At Kamy and Mina’s house, the family barbecue was really the mainstay of summer.
The gatherings at Thanksgiving, the annual decorating of the Tree and watching the cooking channel…so many wonderful memories…seven years of marriage was like 70 years of life, in its richness and love. A week wouldn’t go by without a beautifully arranged bouquet of flowers for Mina. He never let an occasion pass without a loving note.
Kamy was a tremendously generous, kind, and loving husband and those who were lucky enough to know him, would same the same. He loved you with all his heart and you felt it.
Kamy was a lover of animals, especially his beloved Browning, who passed last year. “He rescued me,” he said, “I didn’t rescue him.” Mina and Kamy adopted Zeus, who very quickly filled their heart.
He is survived by his wife, Mina, sisters Mari and Charlotte, cousins Serge, Florence, Sargon, Arbella, and Nosrat, Uncle Hassan, his Aunt Narges and her family, his children, Roxy and Joe, and grandchild, James, (whom he called James Bond, as 007 was another favorite of his).
Kamy will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A visitation will be held on Thursday May 15, 2025 from 9:30am until time of funeral service 12:30pm at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S Madison St, Willowbrook, IL 60527. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
