David F. Shutack of Hinsdale, Illinois, passed away suddenly Monday, March 7, 2022. He is survived by his children, Laura and Jack, his friend and former wife Patsy, and his beloved pets Harry and Wynne. He is also survived by step siblings Kate McDonnell, Molly Pelzer, Dan Duffy, Nora Duffy, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Peter and James, and his parents John and Suzanne.
Dave was a free spirit and had fond memories of backpacking through Glacier National Park and exploring the Bahamas. He peppered conversations with jokes that ranged from the simple and silly to the irreverent and complex. A contemplative man who earned a master’s in Philosophy from the University of Chicago, he crafted clever messages for commercials during his career in advertising.
A lifelong Bears and Cubs buff, he was an even bigger fan of any team or endeavor his children pursued. Dave loved to travel and take his family on wonderful trips and his generosity knew no bounds.
His family appreciates the kindness and friendship of Wabi, Ray, and Wassim.
