Darlene Limber Obituary

Darlene (Delargy) Limber, 86 of Burr Ridge, IL, died peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, October 7th, two days before her 87th birthday. Her family was gathered to celebrate her birthday, providing her warmth and comfort.

Visitation will be held at 10AM on Friday, October 13th, 2023 at St. John of the Cross Parish in 5005 S Wolf Rd, Western Springs, IL. A Celebration of Life Mass will immediately follow at St. John of the Cross at 11AM. Donations to Hope for Healing are greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers, linked here.

Darlene was born in Chicago, IL in 1936 to James and Margaret "Peg" (Gill) Delargy who both immigrated from Ireland as young adults. Darlene attended St. Lucy's Parish School and Trinity High School with her sisters, Maureen and Margaret "Marge". The three inseparable sisters were lovingly nicknamed "Charlie's Angels" by their children and grandchildren. After graduating from Trinity High School, Darlene married her first love, James "Jim" Vilona, before Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force. Darlene and Jim moved back to Westchester, IL, then to Elmhurst, IL where they raised their four children together. Their children meant the world to them, "Jim", "Marge",  "Kathy", and John, who were raised in Elmhurst and attended York High School until moving to Barrington where John attended Barrington High School.

Though Darlene loved knitting and quilting, gardening, reading with her book clubs, and playing the piano, her favorite role was that of a mother and grandmother. She treasured her time with her 17 grandchildren, for whom she baked birthday cakes and made quilts, and cherished her 10 great-grandchildren.

Darlene married her second love, Paul Limber, in 1986, who was immediately welcomed and loved by Darlene's children and grandchildren. The two were married for 29 wonderful years until his passing in 2015. The love the two shared and her memory will live on in the hearts of the entire family. Darlene was preceded in death by Margaret and James Delargy, James Vilona, Paul Limber, Matthew Stefani, Maureen (Delargy) Brutto, and Margaret (Delargy) Hangsterfer. She is survived by her four children, James Vilona, Margaret (Vilona) Stefani, Kathleen (Vilona) Hussey, and John Vilona.

Darlene will be remembered for her kind heart, and her faith filled life. She was beautiful role model and dearly loved. She will be greatly missed by her 17 grandchildren: Jessica Work, Brian Vilona, Amelia Reich, Dylan Vilona, Matthew Stefani, Steven Stefani, Benjamin Stefani, Daniel Hussey, Erin Garmon, Colleen Hussey, Mary Kate McGuire, Megan McKeown, Nathan Miller, Laura Quinn, Jayms Vilona, Johnny Vilona, and Jett Vilona; and 10 great-grandchildren: Liam Jenkins, Caden Jenkins, Isla Work, Quinn Reich, Daniel Hussey, Elizabeth Garmon, Claire Garmon, Benjamin Garmon, Lillian McGuire, and William Quinn.
