Christopher Louis Baskel

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Christopher Louis Baskel, born on December 6, 1950 and taken from us too soon on February 5, 2023. Waiting for him with open arms was his mom Jovita, dad Arthur, nieces Tracy and Christine and other treasured family and friends. 

Our beloved Cbas is survived by his teenage love and adored wife of 51 years, Maureen “Annie” (Morrin), sons Andy (Jenny), Kevin (Elise) and Danny (Liz), brothers Art (Coelle), David (Pam) and sister Marcia (Tom), bonus son (Cornell) and grandson (Sydney), the Maxine gang and his legions of lifelong friends and family that he cared for with all his heart and made an instant and lasting impression. 

Detroit born and raised. Rock and roll drummer in the The Bobcats. Healthcare system supply chain executive. Gem and jewelry aficionado. Hockey coach and lifelong Detroit Red Wings fanatic. Embarrassed but loyal Detroit Lions fan. Could always be found providing a safe place and a listening ear for countless neighborhood kids. Happiest in his home overlooking Lake Michigan in South Haven, with his family and friends in Chicago or driving his Dodge Stealth probably too fast.

But - all of that pales in comparison to his most favorite role, Papa to his eight precious grandchildren, Finley (16), Mason (15), Logan (13), Declan (13), Maisie (11), Lexi (9), Kellan (8) and Brennan (4). Each knew, without question, that they were Papa's most favorite. He was put on this earth to be the best Papa and the memories he shared with each will carry them throughout the rest of their lives. 

We rest easy knowing our beloved is doing what he loved best - tinkering in the garden, drinking his morning pot of coffee, bird watching, coming up with crazy ideas, eating sweets, scouring the internet for the best discounts and gem collecting. May your contagious boisterous laugh echo through the heavens as you keep a watchful eye as guardian angel to the fans you left behind. Your stories, legends and legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
