Carol Prather Obituary

Carol Faye Prather neé Leatzow, died in her sleep on September 20, 2022 in the hospice facility at Oak Trace Health Center in Downers Grove, Illinois. She is survived by her son Scott Prather, her daughter-in-law Anne Prather and daughter Laurie Prather.

Carol grew up in Morgan Park, Illinois. Her father was a professional harpist and her mother was the owner of a retail greeting card shop. She attended Loring High School for Girls, in Morgan Park, Illinois, where she graduated in 1954. In 1956 she married Richard D. Prather and the couple moved to the Hinsdale area, where they raised their two children, Scott and Laurie.

Carol loved to sing and was blessed with a sense of everything that was gracious. Their house in Hinsdale reflected her artistic sensibilities, from the floors, to the windows, to the figurines and other objects she displayed. She regularly attended class reunions for the class of ’54 of Loring High School for Girls and was active at the Hinsdale United Methodist Church, contributing her energy and talent to their yearly sale.

A memorial service for Carol will be held on Saturday, October 15 at 2PM in the Hinsdale United Methodist Church 945 S. Garfield St., Hinsdale, IL. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Angels Grace Hospice: https://www.angelsgracehospice.com/
