Bruce Magnuson

Bruce Raymond Magnuson, of Chicago, IL and Lakeside, MI passed away  October 12,  just short of his 91st birthday.  Survivors include his children Karin, Peter (Erin), Elizabeth, grandchildren Stewart and Elinda and a legacy of adoring nieces and nephews; preceded in death by daughter Ann, wife Carole, and parents Raymond and Astrid. Born October 14, 1932 in Oak Park, IL he attended Chicago Christian HS, North Park and Augustana Colleges where he met Carole (Sahlin), graduating 1954 Business BA. Wed, November 1954 in Tacoma, WA.  Married life began in South Bend IN, to La Grange IL, followed by Hinsdale, Oak Brook, Burr Ridge until settling along the Chicago/Museum Park lakefront 2007.  He was the General Manager of Vogel Peterson Co and cofounder of Magnuson Group. Although he never officially retired he maintained a strong work life balance, serving on boards including Covenant Retirement Communities and the Viking ship project.  He and Carole traveled extensively but put down additional roots in MI where they savored a respite from the city.  He was renowned for his incredible memory, especially when regaling a tale or accurately bringing his caricatures to life via pencil or dramatization. With an affinity for art, photography, cars, and travel he loved his family; God and church above all else. He was always there to lend a quiet hand of help, leading with love. Irreplaceable and forever in our memories. Memorial service will be held  Thursday November 9, 2023 12 Noon at Hinsdale Covenant  Church 4th and Garfield  Hinsdale Il 60521
