Bernadina "Dina" Storino Obituary

Bernadina M. Storino “Dina” of Hinsdale was born on June 27, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois and passed away peacefully on February 20, 2020, loved and embraced by family and friends.

Dina’s witty sense of humor, vibrant laughter, inspiring courage, and colorful personality will be cherished by many from all walks of life. Her generous heart aimed to always make everyone feel welcome, and Dina’s outgoing friendliness and jovial conversation left a warm smile on all she met. Dina’s energizing spirit and thoughtful kindness were evident in her passion for her four children, eleven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A lover of baking, opera, and her church choir; Grandma Dina’s goodies, beautiful singing voice and years of volunteering will be timeless treasures.

Dina always seemed to know someone wherever she went and even her grandchildren’s friends called her Grandma Dina. It was not uncommon for her to make new friends or strike up a conversation on her frequent trips to the grocery, even if they're “only to get a few things”! Her life was forever enriched by her sweet circle of women friends she met in kindergarten and still referred to as her “girlfriends”, their special bond lasted over 85 years.

Dina grew up surrounded by her Italian traditions, strong family and incredible faith life. She began her career at a young age working in her family’s grocery market and with that same commitment she gave her father’s business worked in servicing customers until 75 years of age. Her resolute personal and professional work ethic extended to her volunteer work with the elderly, neighborhood newcomers, and church choir.

Dina’s life-giving energy always put others first, most importantly her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered and missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children Louise (Kevin) Augustyn, Joseph (Teresa) Storino and Paul Storino, and her sister Rachel (the late John) Rose. Her grandchildren Peter (Cynthia) Storino, Laura (Art) Olsen, Deanna (Jeffrey) Fishel, Thomas (fiance’ Michelle) Storino, Joseph (Rachel) Storino, Michael Storino, Carrie Storino, and Matthew Storino; Matthew Augustyn, Ryan Augustyn, and Alexandra (Ali) Augustyn. Her great-grandchildren Ava, Elle, Olivia, Quinn, and Laurel. Her husband Pete and son Peter predeceased her.

Dina’s 89 years of life will be celebrated on Saturday, February 29, 2020, with visitation from 10 am - 12 pm and 12 pm mass following at Notre Dame Church, 64 Norfolk Avenue, Clarendon Hills, Illinois.
