It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Asha Shah, who passed away at her home on May 27, 2025. Asha was born on November 8, 1968, in Rajpipla, India, to a family that would come to shape her kind and resilient spirit. She was the eldest of three siblings: Sudhir, Versha, and Vijay. Asha was a constant source of strength and inspiration to all who knew her.
Asha's life was marked by determination and perseverance. Despite being one of the few girls in a classroom full of boys, she earned her degree in microbiology and worked in a hospital laboratory in Mumbai, India, before immigrating to the United States with her family on August 10, 1978. She continued to pursue her work in the U.S., taking jobs at Marshalls, PNC Bank, and other organizations, all while maintaining a strong sense of devotion to her family and community.
Asha’s unwavering love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gopal, and her daughter, Neelam, both of whom she missed dearly. For the remainder of her life, Asha lived with her son, Jaimin, and daughter-in-law, Kunjal, whom she loved deeply. Asha was also a cherished grandmother to Aarya and Rohan, and her legacy lives on in their smiles and memories.
Known for her kind heart, Asha was a caretaker to many. She spent her days cooking meals that brought comfort to all—whether it was her famous savory dhokla or the extravagant dishes she lovingly prepared for family gatherings. She also had a green thumb, tending to her garden and nurturing plants that will forever bloom in her memory.
Above all, Asha’s greatest joy was in spending time with those she loved. She will be remembered for her infectious smile, her playful spirit, and the warmth she brought to every room she entered. Whether through lively conversations, game nights, or dancing around the living room, Asha’s presence made every moment special.
A visitation will be held on Saturday May 31, 2025 from 2pm until time of Puja Service 4pm at Damar Kaminski Funeral Home. 7861 88th Ave, Justice, IL 60458. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to [charity or cause] in her honor.
Asha's spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, knowing that her love will continue to guide us every day.
