In 1963 at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Arthur met his partner and best friend, Nancy Jo “NJ” (Lehman) and over the next 62 years, the two laughed, relocated, traveled, cheered on the Fighting Illini, golfed, and toasted to the life they were building together.
After marrying in 1964, Art began his career with Xerox in Chicago in which he held various management positions, taking the family through moves across the United States. The family returned to Chicago in 1983, with Art as District Manager of Xerox Midwest. A career change in the late 1980s found Art at Chicago Northwestern Railroad as Vice President of Marketing. After a merger, he worked for Union Pacific Railroad until the end of his career.
An avid golfer, Art enjoyed volunteering with the Chicago District Golf as a Course Rater and Rules Official. He has golfed around the country and the world, including memberships at Loch Loman Golf Course in Scotland, Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchison, Kansas, Troon Country Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, & Ruth Lake Country Club in Hinsdale.
After retirement, Art & NJ enjoyed traveling the world with family and travel buddies. Whether taking the grandchildren to Disney World or cruising to destinations around the world such as climbing Machu Picchu, drinking wine in Bordeaux, or walking over the Sydney Harbor Bridge, Art’s favorite place was always where his favorite people were.
Art is survived by his lovely wife Nancy Jo; beloved children Christiane (David) and AJ (Jackie); cherished grandchildren Fletcher, Nicole, Joe, and Andrew; twin sister Arlene Latronica and sister Merrilee Henley; brother-in-law Tom Lehman (Debbie).
