Americo Di Gianfilippo, 99 years old, passed into the grace of God on Jan. 2, 2022. He was the son of Domenicantonio DiGianfilippo and Elisabetta Ciangoli. Cesidio Eligio Amerigo, known as Americo, was born in Luco dei Marsi, Italy, on August 9th, 1922. He immigrated to the US in 1940, and resided in Chicago for many years, then Niles, and recently, with family and friends in Hinsdale.
He was preceded in heaven by his wife Antonia (Settimia) Marchetti, his brother Rinaldo and wife Sebenica, his brother Anello and wife Natalina, and his sister Ilia and her husband Luigi Granata. He is survived by his children, his son Anthony and wife Lynn, his son Dominic and wife Susan, and his beloved grandchildren Carina, Adriana and her husband Brad, along with many extended family and friends in the US and Italy.
Americo took pride in his work and felt fortunate to work with the CTA for 36 years (1949-1985). He loved gardening, cooking, and the companionship of his family, friends, and dogs. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be sent in his name to the St. Francis Xavier Parish food pantry (sfxlg.org).
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at St. Francis Xavier Parish, 124 N Spring Ave, LaGrange, IL 60525, from 11am until time of funeral mass at 12pm. The mass will be livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/SFXParish.LG
