Well its my birthday today. I will never again get one of your special hand-made cards. Every time I go to the mail box I think "I will never again get a letter or package from Mother Helen" and I miss you so. Sr. Margaret left us last week to come home to be with our Lord at the "Mission House in Heaven". I asked her to let all of you know that I really miss you all". I know that you all are watching over us from up there and I feel your hand and guidance here and there in my everyday life. Thank you for always being a calm, steady nurturing force in my life. God Bless you, miss you so very much!

Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in every thoughts and prayers. I admired Sister Helen for her strength of character and faith. I will continue to be inspired by the actions she took and things done when she was alive. She will live in our hearts full of memories to embraced. Our sincere condolences. I’ll be praying for all to have peace and comfort!

Dearest Sister Helen, M y brain was empty until you left us, I know this is a call from God, You keep telling me you ready to go anytime, to be with your family. You are more than my mother that nobody can replace you, specially in my heart. You thought me everything I should know, that you and me knew, we share each other what I know and what you know. We have lots experience together, until the end we are making beautiful cards that you sent last Christmas, that you told me we are ready making cards for the next 10 years, I guess I am to continue this by myself, You’ve been helped to me and my family, for 18 years. Until the last day of your breath, I ask you who am I, you still remember my name and I am very proud of that. How does one thank you , For all the things you do? In the dictionary under generosity, Should be a photo of you! i Do not know what we would have done , Had it not been for you! How we express our feelings, For the things you did for us , Never expecting gratitude or praise, and never waiting a fuss? All I can say “THANK YOU” And hope that the meaning is clear that is a deep heart felt thanks and pray that It’s depth your heart can hear! We love you forever , until we meet again. You always remain in our heart. Thank you so much.

Mother Helen you taught me so much as a child and we're so patient with me. I never thought that when I saw you in September last year that would be the last time I would see you or get a warm hug from you. I love you so much and am heartbroken. I hope to see you again. I know you are in heaven with God. You used to call me your little shadow

Mother Helen, you were an inspiration to me and my sisters while growing up. I remember when you taught us how to "run" because you said all we ever did was hop around. Affectionately you called us "those goofy kids." You taught us how to garden and how to help prepare the harvest and how to pray the rosary. You taught us to steer the truck while you drove because we were too small for our legs to reach the pedals. You taught us to drive the tractor too. You would nurse our boo-boos when we were stung by a bee or skinned our knee, or when someone hurt our feelings (the internal boo-boo's too). You showed patience and charity and that it was OK to ask for help. And you always said "ask Jesus for guidance, put your faith in our Lord". We will miss you dearly but know that it was time for you to go home and be with our Lord. But a tiny bit of you will always stay right here in my heart. God Bless you, Mother Helen! , Love Carol-Jo Shonka

In Loving Memory - Gregorian Masses will be said through the Seraphic Association. These Gregorian Masses will begin the 14th of January and will follow for 30 consecutive days. Mother Helen, you helped us grow up when we were kids. We have so many loving memories of you and the other Oblates. Joseph always remembers when he & Frank flipped your Farmall A tractor. Theresa recalls your comforting explanation about the Sanctuary Lamp only in Catholic churches that guarantees the real presence of Christ. I recall your not being too upset when Diane and I licked the goats’ salt block and a few years later teaching me to make rosaries and especially the St. Michael Chaplet. Now, Mother Helen, please continue to help us from heaven.--The Adolph Shonka family - Joseph, Theresa, & Bernadette
