Robert McCormick Obituary

 

Robert Thurman “Mac” McCormick, son of the late Thurman and Helen McCormick and brother of the late Donna Enders, passed peacefully on March 6th, 2019 at his home in Bolingbrook after a valiant fight with cancer. A former 42 year Hinsdale resident.  Robert is survived by his wife Maureen, daughter Elizabeth (Vince), sons Chris & Matthew, grandchildren Charlie, LuLu, & Maggie, sister Sally Wilkins, nephew Scott Wilkins, and nieces Tracy Wilkins DeWitt, Lisa Wilkins, Jackie Enders, & Sheryl Enders.

Robert attended Hinsdale Central High School and the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. He was captain of his high school football team and All-Conference Champion. He honorably served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army from 1967 through 1973. During combat tours in Vietnam, he was awarded the Bronze Star (with V for Valor), the Purple Heart, and various other Vietnam campaign & service medals. A devoted family man, Robert was an avid fisherman, lover of dogs, especially Golden Retrievers, and the Green Bay Packers.

A visitation will be held Saturday, March 9th, 2019 from 9:00 AM until time of funeral mass at 11:30 AM at Notre Dame Church in Clarendon Hills, 64 Norfolk Ave, Clarendon Hills IL 60514. Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital (https://www.hines.va.gov) or to the Prostate Cancer Foundation (https://cure.pcf.org).
