Lydia Pohl Veazie passed away at home on October 14, 2019, at the age of 101. A former resident of Clarendon Hills for over 50 years. Lydia was born in Youngstown, Ohio on March 14, 1918. She was the fourth of six children of Titus Nathaniel Pohl and Ellen Theolinda Svensson. Lydia married Boardman Veazie in 1947, and they had two children: Steven Andrew(Peg) Veazie and Eric William(Dawn) Veazie. In addition to her responsibilities as a wife and mother, Lydia was a classically trained singer and devoted many years to teaching, performance and directing choirs. After Boardman’s passing in 2008, Lydia enjoyed living in the Windsor Retirement Community in Carol Stream for another decade. Surviving Lydia are sons Steven and Eric, 2 step-children Alan Veazie and Karen Stephen, plus many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019, at 2 PM at the Windsor Park Manor Auditorium, 110 Windsor Park Dr. Carol Stream, IL 60188. Memorials in Lydia’s memory are appreciated to The North Park Fund (which is North Park University’s general scholarship fund) with a notation regarding Lydia Pohl Veazie, and sent to North Park University, Office of Advancement, Box 6, 3325 W. Foster Ave, Chicago 60625-4895. Interment will be private.
