I graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in May of 1974. Doctor James Bolan, MD was the director of the Surgical Pathology Laboratory while I was a medical student. I rotated as a resident in the Surgical Pathology Laboratory under his supervision during two of my elective clerkships. It was a wonderful experience. I became a Surgical Pathologist because Doctor Bolan taught me you could take care of patients, you could care about patients with a microscope.

Mary Jo please accept our deepest condolences on Jim s passing. Our friendship goes back to the first day at theAcademy in the fall of 1950 through college, medical school, and internship at County. Never was a better room mate or friend.
