Evelyn Quatrochi, 96, born February 20, 1923, in Philadelphia, PA passed away peacefully at home in Hinsdale, IL where she lived for 32 years, on February 25, 2019.
Evelyn attended and graduated from a vocation school for dressmaking during her teenage years. She met Rosario (Ray) Quatrochi in Philadelphia and they married on October 9, 1940. They remained married for 59 years until Ray passed away in 2010.
After Evelyn married she was a wonderful homemaker and raised three beautiful children. She worked part-time also as a sales associate at a children's clothing store, until moving to the Chicago area.
In Chicago, she worked as a cashier at the local Dominick's Grocery Store for years while raising the family.
After returning from Ray's overseas assignments in Liberia, Africa, and Vietnam, no longer having children at home, Evelyn returned to school to complete her HS education and got her GED. Then she proceeded to school to become a nurse’s aide.
She had to return to Philadelphia shortly thereafter to help care for her parents. Afterward, she worked as a sales associate at the Service Merchandise stores in the jewelry department, and she was honored a few years later as a top diamond sales associate!
Evelyn loved to cook for her family. The kitchen was her favorite room in the house she lived in and besides cooking and serving meals she always sent leftovers and food home with her guests. She also enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, and being involved with an exercise swimming group.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Rosario (Ray), in 2010; her parents, Nunzio and Jennie DiFelice; her brother and sister, Gino DiFelice and Rita Miller; her son, Carmen Quatrochi and her granddaughter, Anna Godfrey.
She is survived by her children: her daughter, Eva Howard of St. Joseph, Michigan; her son, Ray (Sherry) Quatrochi Jr. of Northville, Michigan; her daughter-in-law, Natalie Quatrochi of Matteson, IL; and her five grandchildren: Chris (Kathy) Quatrochi; Jennie (Will) Hockenhull; Lisa (Paul) Drenth; Cori Easley; and Boyd (Jennifer) Easley and seven great-grandchildren: Nick and Sydney Quatrochi; Carys and Olivia Hockenhull; Silas and Daphne Drenth; and Quinn Easley;
A visitation will be held April 1, from 9:30AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10AM at St. Isaac Jogues Church 4th and Clay St, Hinsdale, IL. Burial will take place afterward at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
