Eleanor Marie Siemer, 1931-2018 peacefully joined our Lord on the 18th of May at her home in Bright Oaks Assisted Living, Aurora, IL. A 22-year lung cancer survivor, she lost her long struggle with COPD and passed peacefully at 1:10 AM surrounded by her family.
Born the only daughter to Carl and Eleanor Marie Zitzka, Fullersburg, IL, she joins her parents and brothers Carl, George, Edward and Richard in death. Brother Harry Zitzka and sister-in-law Charlotte Zitzka mourn her loss, along with many surviving nephews and nieces.
Eleanor was married to Clifford F. Siemer at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Wheaton, IL in November, 1949 and resided in the Siemer family home on Wiesbrook Road in Wheaton. She is survived by her four children, Karen Howard-Granger, Ellisville, MO., Gail (Dan) Mesch, St. Charles, IL, Lynn (Juan) Montemayor, North Aurora, IL., and Robert (Dana) Siemer, Beloit, WI; her grandchildren, Rev. Tony (Caroline) Howard, Dan (Katie) Mesch, Chris (Maggie) Mesch, Carl (Liz Henderson) Verive, Michael Verive, Juan (Wendy) Montemayor, Tony Montemayor, Riah Johnson, Cade Johnson, and Jase Williams; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Eleanor dedicated her life to helping and giving to others. She left her mark in the lives of the young 4H club children she led in career paths and later moved on as an employment consultant for Murphy Employment and Personnel Pool of Oakbrook, IL. Her infectious personality and penchant for bringing people together in the community left a mark on all she touched.
A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018, 1:00–4:00 pm at Bright Oaks of Aurora, 1340 River St., Aurora, IL; a Memorial service will be held with prayers being said at 1:30. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the American Lung Association.
