Shirley Petersen

Shirley A. Petersen , of Hinsdale, passed away peacefully on October 6,2017. Her last days were spent in the company of her close family and friends. She was born in Chicago in 1930 to Raymond and Charlotte Schroeder. She grew up on the North side, near Wrigley Field, graduating from Amundsen High School. Shirley had three children, Craig, Charlene, and Elizabeth. She raised her family in the same house she grew up in on the North side. Shirley was a life long Cub Fan and attended the World Series in 1945 at Wrigley Field, and fittingly she was able to revel in the excitement of the Cubs first World Series title since 1908 last year. Shirley will be remembered for her humor, quick wit, and most of all her love of family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Petersen, her daughter , Elizabeth, her parents and her Aunt Esther. She is survived by her son Craig Morris (Gwendolyn), daughter Char Larson (Keith) , her brother, Ron Schroeder, niece Karen Williams (Jim), grandchildren Scott Morris(Stacey), Neil Morris, Samantha Larson, Robert Larson, and Jeffrey Larson.. Shirley has 8 great grandchildren, Noah, Gabriel, McKenzie, Zara, Isabella, Leonder, Nathaniel, and Genevieve. Visitation will be held Monday October 9th from 3:00pm till time of celebration service 6:00pm at Zion Lutheran Church, 204 S Grant St .Hinsdale A private interment will be held as Shirley will be laid to rest next to her husband , Edward , at Memorial Park in Skokie. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 204 S. Grant in Hinsdale.
