Barbara L. Porter

Barbara L. Porter (nee Papke), a long-time resident of Hinsdale and Downers Grove, passed away at Oak Brook Healthcare Centre, on December 22nd, surrounded by her family.  Barbara was born in 1935 and was the daughter of Margaret and Arthur Papke.  Barbara grew up in Western Springs, graduated from LaGrange Township High School and attended college, studying accounting.  Barbara was formerly married to the late David Fuller Porter.  Barbara is survived by her beloved daughter Sharon L. Homolka (Frank) of Clarendon Hills and son, Scott D, Porter (Lisa) of Mt Pleasant, WI. Her much loved grandchildren, Hannah Homolka, Christopher Porter and Michael Porter and her friend, William Deutscher and special friend and caregiver, Chris Soutar.  Barbara worked for many years for ETA/Versar, Inc., as bookkeeper/accountant for the business.  Always cheerfully volunteering in many roles in her children's activities, sailing throughout Lake Michigan, hosting great holiday celebrations, traveling throughout the US, spending time with long-time high school friends and enjoying the activities of her grandchildren, were her greatest joys. A memorial service will be held at Katherine Legge Memorial Lodge on January 20th.
